THE CLOSING OF THE RURAL SCHOOLS IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF AVEIRO-PARÁ
Closing of Rural Schools. Rural Education. Aveiro-PA.
This research studies the closure of field schools in the municipality of Aveiro - Pará, and its guiding question was: What reasons justified the closure of field schools in the municipality between 2006 and 2018? It aims to investigate the reasons that allowed the closure of these schools and the consequences of this action for peasant subjects. The time frame is delimited by the reorganization of the municipal education system after the municipalization of elementary school in Aveiro. To answer the question this dissertation was directed by the qualitative approach supported by a bibliographic theoretical study on the subject in question and field research. Documents were analyzed as reports produced by the Municipal Education Department with data on schools in operation and closed, as well as enrollments of Early Childhood Education and Elementary School within the period studied. It was also analyzed Ordinances and Decrees related to municipal education. Of the 111 schools in the countryside, 63 were closed, which corresponds to 56.76%. All 63 schools had multi-school classes. As this research is still ongoing, it is intended to interview municipal managers, secretaries of education, community leaders and families of at least one community in which the school was closed to complete data production and analysis. Preliminary results show the absence of the duty of the State and the denial of the offer by closing more than 50% of schools over 12 years, contrary to the legal frameworks and overlapping the history of struggle of social movements that defend a school for the subjects of the field without it need to leave their place to study. Thus, it is expected to understand, from the present study, the phenomenon of the closure of field schools in the city of Aveiro approaching it from a critical perspective of analysis.
