REMOVAL OF ORGANIC MATTER AND RECOVERY OF NUTRIENTS FROM EFFLUENTS FROM CASSAVA FLOUR PRODUCTION IN SANTARÉM-PA
Cassava; PAO’s, activated sludge, sewage treatment.
The production of cassava flour is present in Brazilian agriculture. Pará stands out in this type of production. However, this product generates large amounts of waste such as puba, manipueira and ash, which are major factors capable of negatively impacting the environment. Therefore, the present study aims to remove organic matter and nutrients. For this purpose, a system consisting of an activated sludge reactor of the sequential batch reactor type was built. The system will be used to treat manipueira waste together with raw sewage. Parameters such as pH, COD, nitrogen and its fractions, solids and their fractions, total phosphorus and phosphate were evaluated. Furthermore, a phosphorus recovery system was built in dissolved phosphate format. As a partial result, low phosphorus removal and recovery was obtained. Despite this, there is significant progress in results.
